We are proud to announce our first ENECHANGE Insight Ventures (EIV) 2021 cohort. 21 companies have been selected to participate in our energy venture innovation programme, which has been running successfully since 2018 and is the second edition to be held online. From this year, we will host two cohorts, with the first normally running between April and September, and the second between October and March. This initial cohort started slightly earlier and will run between January and September 2021.
The selection criteria were informed by the Japanese government’s Green Growth Strategy and the fourteen categories that were earmarked for innovation within it. Several dozen companies from across Europe, North America and Oceania applied for the cohort. Together with our subscribers — all significant players in the Japanese energy sector — we selected a final line-up of ventures based on their technology, size, market traction, timeframe for a prospective collaboration, and subscribers’ interest. With Japan aiming for net-zero by 2050, these companies all have the tools to help make that goal a reality.
The full list of companies is as follows:
Left-right: Akselos, BlocPower, Clobotics, Eliq, Enerbrain, Enevate, eSmart Systems, ev.energy, Gecko Robotics, GridBeyond, Leap, Lithion Recycling, MaaS Global, Persefoni, Rovco & Vaarst, Solpod, Sympower, T-RECs.ai, TWAICE, VIA, WiTricity
Each venture will have the chance to present its company and services to our subscribers during our monthly webinars. During these webinars, companies are asked to present exclusive information about their products, show demos, and outline plans for working with Japanese partners. The webinars will run until August this year, culminating in our Summit. Here the ventures will be able to meet with our subscribers to foster relationships, explore future collaborations and discuss financial investments.
We are very excited about this year’s cohort, and are confident that they will become part of our successful alumni network.
